TOURNAMENT IPTV PLATFORM AND SERVICE

SMT’s Tournament IPTV Platform and Service (TIPS) is a turnkey IP-based television solution designed to replace an RF closed-circuit television system. TIPS provides operational efficiencies as well as supplemental value for tournament sponsors through additional features.

Workflow

  • Channels received via an over-the-air HD tuner or through our HD receiver dish are encoded and stored on our head-end server.

  • The encoded channels are then sent to predetermined zones via a high-speed and versatile fiber backbone.

  • As the fiber reaches each zone, the IPTV system is sent to each TDD (set-top box) via CAT5 cabling from one central switch per zone.

  • SMT-provided TV sizes include: 32-, 47- and 55-inch.

  • Custom 10 Channel line up, including PGA TOUR Live & Tournament Broadcast when available.

GolfTeeV

GolfTeeV is an integrated element of the TIPS production that provides fans with a customized viewing experience and sponsors an opportunity for additional exposure. Our GolfTeeV channel is distributed course-wide via the SMT TIPS fiber network and features five distinct panels of content: a large video window, leaderboard, stats panel, crawling ticker and sponsor section. This allows fans to easily keep track of their favorite players with real-time statistics and provides sponsorship revenue opportunities on-site. It’s safe to say GolfTeeV is the most tournament-tailored channel for fans and sponsors alike at any golf event.

TIPS allowed us to make a big leap in technology for six of our events on the PGA TOUR, while greatly increasing sponsorship opportunities. The custom messaging tool became particularly useful during the WGC Cadillac Championship in Doral, Florida. We had inclement weather and needed to evacuate the course immediately and the TIPS service helped us achieve that goal. I would recommend this system to any tournament or event looking for advancements in their CCTV technology and to provide more exposure for sponsors on-site.
